this depends on what you mean by new mobile internet technology, I guess u r refereing to mobile phone devices and their internet capabilities, this again depends on provider and device you have, most newer phone devices support gprs, which reaches only about 5kb/s so very very slow, but there are also protocols like cdda or wireless of course which are totally boradband and can be as fast as any wired internet conncection, most MDAs or new smartphones support wifi so with an UMTS contract the connection is very fast, you can use it for anything, download, skyping, messaging etc, justlike ur own computer at home, the limitations lies in the screen size and input, which can suck on a phone or mda, but if u r gonna buy a device, then pay attention that it has wifi capabilites, though wi-fi is also still largely locally, there will be wi-max coming soon, with a reception area of 50 KM and in a few years we will also have polymer screens which can be rolled together like paper and then fun will truly start
