Internet and computers have really taken over the control all over the world and I am sure even if you move into the most isolated areas of your country, you will definitely find people working with computers. The information technology revolution no doubt has brought us many useful things and situations which were impossible earlier but like every coin has two sides, this revolution has its own problems and challenges that we need to look upon and think about how we can stop the ill effects of this negative side of information technology and the rise of machines.

Yes, I am talking about the problems of e-waste or electronic waste that is really growing all over the globe as we are getting more and more dependent on the technology to complete our work. In technical terms electronic waste is also known as WEEE which stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. E-waste is nothing but electrical and electronic devices that are not working and are discarded by us when they are damaged or if we have them in surplus. All electronics devices are a part of e-waste, which means that it is not only computers that we are talking about. The category of e-waste includes entertainment devices like iPod, MP3 players, portable gaming consoles, laptops, refrigerators, television sets, mobile phones, monitors, keyboards and other electronic devices that have high probability of getting damaged due to improper or excess usage.

Many countries across the globe have now realized that e-waste is really affecting our lives and that we need to take some adequate measures to curb this as it is degrading our environment. Hence, many non-government, government and independent organizations have taken stand to spread awareness among the people which can cause serious environmental hazards that can lead to further complications in the ecosystem.
